I carry a cave
in my backpack of life
weighed down
by the treasures it holds
and no matter how quickly
I share of its gifts
it’s like a nanny’s bag
with no bottom
for when I delve in
arms lost till the elbows
I fall
head over heels
into pure potential
the one thing I can’t
give away
for it’s of this that I’m made
and each one has their own
so I’ll share
and I’ll give
leave potential full free
and tempt God back inside
to refill me again
for nature abhors a vacuum
they say
and I’d say –
I believe God does too

Yes, God does too. You’ll hardly meet God in a vacuum. I liked the strength and sense of honor of this poem’s backpack…

What a wonderful metaphor with the backpack. Every word carries me in this poem – away from a vacuum and toward potential!

Thank you Pam, glad you enjoyed it. Long may you be carried toward the freedom and flowering of potential:-) Blessings, H xxxx

Thanks very much, glad you liked it. Yes, they are unforgettable – borrowed them from Aristotle, but I don’t think he’d mind:-) Blessings, H xxxxxx

To think that we have a backpack like that–a bag of possibilities which we can reach in. Lovely poem!
