‘To lighten up my heavy load
give me someone who deserves
to be loved just as I do
give me someone I can serve’
MOTHER TERESA
I wanted to share with you a song I wrote – when it all got a bit too much. I use it every now and then to sing myself back to the present. I’m not going to sing it now, just give you the words, but I semi-borrowed the tune from ‘More Than Words’, by extreme…if you want to have a go:-)
I wrote it alone in the laundry, burying my tear drenched face in a tall warm pile of freshly washed towels…they softened me and gave me these words…
I really want to serve you
but I don’t know if I can do that here
all I’ve ever wanted
is to be sure each moment that you’re near
but now I’m
scared that you’re asking too much from me
I’m not strong enough
to be and do all that you want me to
and you know that I love you
so don’t make me
or I’ll disappoint you
what will I do
if I can’t be close to you
living here’s taking me away
that is why I cannot stay
Sweetheart you’re not listening
for I would never ask too much from you
all I’ve ever asked for
I’ve always known deep down that you could do
can’t you see
you don’t have to run to make you free
please believe me
I know you better
than you know yourself
and you know that I love you
so just trust me
as I my dear trust you
how can I know
who I am if you won’t show
so just trust in me this time
let me show you how to shine…
Shine on dear friends:-) Blessings on your day…

This is lovely Harula. Would love to hear you sing it.
Im not sure exactly what its about but I love the line “you dont have to run to make you free” . That says so much to me in respect of relationships (of any kind). In a healthy one there should always be room to walk apart while being together. Thats my opinion anyway! 🙂
Lots of love and soft blessings

Thank you Christine. I’m glad you enjoyed it:-) The song is in reference to the community I live and work in, and the You is..well – an innner voice, God, spirit, guardian angel…whatever you want to name it. That which speaks to me so clearly in the quiet moments but that I cannot see. I agree with you – relationships need room and freedom within their emotional bonds, or neither can breathe. Blessings on your day dear friend! Love and hugs, Harula xxxxxx

Thank you for sharing dear Harula. I remember how comforting the laundry could be and how freshly washed and dried towels could make the world just a little brighter and could magically transform sadness and tears. Wishing you a very nourishing day, on all levels. You are in my heart and in my song as always. Xx

This is wonderful! I heard myself in these lines and I heard His reply. Thank you. My body may be able to run – but my spirit needs His power to even walk.

😦 I’m not sure why you’re posts aren’t appearing in my Reader – I don’t think I over look any. I ‘ll try to unfollow you then follow u again to see if this fixes the problem. I liked the poem/song/prayer/conversation going on in this piece. I also liked your prelude about the warm towels softening you up 🙂 I love the feel and the scent of warm towels fresh from the dryer.
Hoping all is well for you,
Ellespeth
