Welcome to day thirteen, for which I’ve chosen the word Presents, thanks to a comment on an earlier post – enjoy!

And…why not have a go at a Christmas acrostic yourself in the comments! I’d love to read yours. I also love to receive suggestions of Christmas words to use as the basis for the next acrostics I write, so please share your favourite festive words in the comments too, and then come back to read the poem!

P erfectly wrapped with ribbon and bow

R eading my name on the dainty tag

E arlier that morning had sparked frantic guessing

S omething to read, watch, wear?

E dible maybe? But it didn’t smell

N ow it was being handed to me

T o rip open and reveal

S ilence descends and I savour the suspense

Welcome to day twelve (sorry, late again – will catch up this evening…), for which I’ve chosen the word Feast, because I when I finished at the biscuit factory yesterday I was sent away with a big bag full of goodies which somehow made me ridiculously happy:-) And at Christmas, as at most meal times, my family has a tendency to make more than necessary, so there’s always enough for unexpected visitors who might (and often do…) turn up. And leftovers are delicious anyway!

And…why not have a go at a Christmas acrostic yourself in the comments! I’d love to read yours. I also love to receive suggestions of Christmas words to use as the basis for the next acrostics I write, so please share your favourite festive words in the comments too, and then come back to read the poem!

F ood is almost spilling off the table

E lbows find no room here (my Grandmother need not worry)

A waiting plates float like barren islands in a sea of plenty

S haring a meal in this company is so rare these days

T hat our hungry hearts ache more than our stomachs

Welcome to day eleven, for which I’ve chosen the word Stocking, because I made one yesterday as a present…though I’ve not stuffed it yet. Enjoy🙂

And…why not have a go at a Christmas acrostic yourself in the comments! I’d love to read yours. I also love to receive suggestions of Christmas words to use as the basis for the next acrostics I write, so please share your favourite festive words in the comments too, and then come back to read the poem!

S anta hasn’t found my address for years now

T oo bad – I’ve been mostly good

O r maybe he’s just one of those things you grow out of,

C ome to lose with age like fairies, perfect complexion, and other

K inds of comforting magic, but no matter

I have other mysteries in my life now

N ostalgia is sweet but the present has more power

G iving us more than could ever be squashed in a sock

Welcome to day ten, for which I’ve chosen the word Carols, because my Mum’s just been playing some on her flute to get into the spirit. Enjoy🙂

And…why not have a go at a Christmas acrostic yourself in the comments! I’d love to read yours. joyMe (with the glasses!) and some of my family, sharing my joy one birthday, when I was gifted this laptop.

Welcome to day eight, for which I was offered the wonderful word Joy. Actually my name is Greek for ‘little joy’ and I’m kind of short, like the word, so….I’m doubling it! (that would make me over ten foot…hmm, no thanks….) So here it is – JoyJoy…Enjoy🙂

And…why not have a go at a Christmas acrostic yourself in the comments! I’d love to read yours. I also love to receive suggestions of Christmas words to use as the basis for the next acrostics I write, so please share your favourite words in the comments too, and then come back to read the poem!

J ingle those bells with all your might and

O ffer your laughter and singing this night

Y our heart is where the spirit of Christmas is found, so

J ust ooze a big dose and then spread it around

O ver here, over there, smile it wide, hug it far

Y es to life, yes to love, yes to what we all are.

And, if you haven’t already, I’d like to encourage you to read another recent post, (or go straight to http://www.climatesilencenow.org/) and answer an invitation from a very determined and inspiring young man…
