I had a lot of fun writing some more ‘poetry on demand’ at another local wedding event this morning, and would like to share one here – written, as usual, in just three minutes – on the requested subject of Family. They gave me more background that just that one word theme of course, but I’ll let the poem speak for itself. Enjoy 🙂
A family as big in heart
as in number
where love runs
thicker than blood
and all are welcome
whatever the connection
but it’s getting harder
to stay in touch
more movement now
more spread out
but we do our best
to keep that glue
of love and connection
strong and true
and though it’s not
all joy and bliss
I wouldn’t trade a thing
for this
solid rock of family
foundations of a life
rooted in, but going beyond
that bond of man and wife

Another heart-felt poem Harula. It sounds like you had fun and allowed the creative juices to flow freely. 🙂
Thank you dear friend, you ‘heard’ right 🙂 Lots of fun and flow and freedom. It does me so much good to offer this, really feeds my soul. I hope those who receive these poems know what a service they are doing to me! Blessings, Harula xx
I bet there is mutual nourishing happening. 🙂
Really lovely, Harula.
Thank you ever kind and encouraging friend 🙂 Happy hugs, Harula x
Wow. Occasionally a poem will come to me nearly fully formed, but most often it’s a few lines then stew, a few more, then a few more and many edits. I’ve known a few people who have your wonderful ability. What a gift.
What a very kind comment – thank you! 🙂 You know, I think there is magic in letting go of expectation, knowing you cannot reach perfection in three minutes, so you just go for it, because what’ve you got to lose? I am grateful for this gift, and even more for the opportunity to share it… Blessings and gratitude, Harula x
What a beautiful piece, Harula, and I love the picture of you at the event! It looks so cheerful, and this is such an interesting and fun way to use your writing. I’m glad you are enjoying it and I know those you’re creating it for are loving it, too!
Thanks dearest Jill! It was a lot of fun, and so freeing and inspiring 🙂 It’s giving me plenty of fuel for creativity, and also food for thought at how community building art/creativity is, and therefore what an essential social ingredient it is, in whatever form. Blessings, Harula xxx
I’m impressed by poets on three and five minute deadlines. Very impressed.
How kind – thank you 🙂 I have a lot of fun with it. There’s something about the time pressure that kicks the inner editor out of my head and just lets me play! Blessings, Harula x
