I know a bridge
let me ease your way
open a crossing
into no fear
and when you’ve crossed
I’ll hold your hand
and we’ll breathe freedom’s air
together a while
for the joy
of the bottomless taste of it
***
then you’ll look back
across the bridge
and see
there’s nowhere the air is not
and the sky above is the same blue
pack your heart with that wisdom
and go your way
knowing you can taste freedom
in each breath everywhere
Dearest Harula, this is a wonderful poem and absolutely timely for me as well. We stay connected…. right now in the realm of poetry…. Lots of Love Christine xxx
Bless you! Thank you dearest Christine:-) Glad you enjoyed it, and that it came at a meaningful moment for you. Indeed, we stay connected, for now through poetry…which I think is a wonderful way! Much love and warm hugs to you, Harula xxx
Beautiful Harula. I love anything connected with bridges. (unintended pun ๐). This poem speaks to me of how freedom comes from within ourselves. We can always achieve it if we strive for it. Everything takes work on our part, there are mo free lunches! ๐ xxx That’s how your poem spoke to me xx
Thank you dear Christine – I love your pun! However ‘untintended’, it still made me smile ๐ Yes, exactly, freedom is available anywhere at anytime because it comes from within. I seem to need reminding of that often, but I do know it to be true…at least in my experience. I agree though, it does take work. Love and hugs to you my friend – Harula xxx
Loving that there’s a bridge. For much of my life, I’ve been scared driving across the Mackinac Bridge, a five mile bridge that connects the two peninsulas of Michigan. As a child, stood quivering on a swinging bridge. Perhaps we’re most scared when we sense we’re standing between places and don’t know quite where we are.
Thank for this lovely comment Kathy. Actually, you hit the nail on the head big time with your last sentence. I think I find myself in that place ‘between places’ right now, but am blessed to find myself surrounded by those who can walk the bridge with me…until I realise I didn’t ever really have to cross it in the first place.
Hugs, Harula xxx
wonderful expression
of caring for another ๐
Thank you –
it was I
who was offered
a bridge of caring
and now I hope
to share it with others
though a heart packed
with the allness of the air
and the blueness of the sky…
hugs, Harula xxx
there is no doubt
you do ๐
