I didn’t ask

to be strong

perhaps you didn’t either

but somehow others know

don’t they

when you’re capable of carrying

they fall on broad shoulders

cling and cry

take me forward

take me home

make me safe

I crave the freedom

of your strength

as you carry my weight

several feet off the ground

making my body feel light

and I find

I can leave

all heaviness behind

as I ride
