Here’s week eight folks – culminating in an award! Hooray:-)

May I again appreciate my dear ‘Good Deed friend’, Rosie, the inspiration for all these posts. I love sharing this experience with you…and a hint before you reach the end of this post, I nominated you:-)

For other Good Deeds posts I’ve written, including the original, please check out:

Sunday 7th July

Gave four people a lift in my car to a community singing event, as the bus we were using to take our French group was already full. It was quite a squeeze in my little Suzuki but soooooo worth it. It was such a special event.

AND good deeds received: My colleague backed me up language wise, throughout the day, as my French was really being stretched! I’m also blessed to be with a group who have a lot of humour and patience, and are seem to enjoy the idiosyncrasies of this clumsy ‘Franglais’ I’m creating!!!

Monday 8th July

I wrote a long email to a dear friend when I saw her comment on my blog and knew she’d still be at her computer. Spent some very present, unrushed time during my morning ‘off’ with someone new to leading groups who will be sharing the leading of a games session with me next week. Reassured and encouraged him until he smiled:-) Got everyone dancing at the beginning of a games session that afternoon, down on the lawn in the sun…heaven!

AND good deed(s) received: Received lots of hugs and smiles, and because our games session ran over a friend of mine agreed to drive us back…as we missed the scheduled bus. We were having too much fun!

Tuesday 9th July

During our group’s nature outing to a nearby river I picked up some litter that seemed so totally out of place at this sacred scenic spot…and nature paid me! I found 43p! Bought a copy of the Big Issue (the magazine sold by homeless people) as I had been paid that morning and it felt good to share the abundance:-)

AND good deed(s) received: Our landlord checked out our garden shed, which had been leaking badly in the rains of a few weeks ago, and promised to re-felt the roof before winter. Hooray!

Wednesday 3rd July

I waited until I was calm before chatting with a colleague about an interaction between us that hadn’t been comfortable. Resolved!

AND good deed(s) received: I was given some fresh, still warm from the sun, strawberries from by a colleague who’s just been out picking and ate them on the hoof as I walked home.

Thursday 4th July

Wrote an email to a dear friend and confessed, after many years, that actually I didn’t know her birthday! Said yes to a lunch invitation even though I had had plans to be alone and catch up on some stuff…and it was well worth it:-)

AND good deed(s) received: Was treated to lunch and coffee by a friend and bumped into three other friends in the same cafe
! Was really inspired and engaged by our conversation…and the shared cake:-)

Friday 5th July

Helped a friend find new accommodation, as she needed to move out from where she was in ten days…sorted!

AND good deed(s) received: Was given the chance to perform one of my songs at a community gathering.

Saturday 13th July

Potted out sunflowers, freed up the strawberries from the weeds invading their patch and saved half of the ripe ones I picked for my mother. Helped someone book in to their next programme. Did some extra hoovering after I’d cleaned the room I’d lived in for the week. I made a donation to a charity supported by the local police because…

AND good deed(s) received: Someone found my purse and handed it in to the police! I got nominated for the Sunshine award by the lovely Briana! Mum gave me a tiny little toy dog she’d made for me, out of felt, to hold the vision of us getting another dog at some point, as Pepper sadly had to be put down a while ago.

So…I hereby accept and celebrate…my Sunshine Award!

5: I can’t seem to keep a room tidy for more than…well, it’s a matter of minutes. I seem to need organised chaos to thrive.

8: I’m still on the porridge most mornings here in Scotland, even though it’s the summer!

10: The last book I read was The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult.. AMAZING! Do read it and let me know what you think…

So, here are the fabulous friends I’d like you to drop in on…who all bring sunshine to my days with their creativity, wisdom and kindness. Some are wonderful new discoveries, some are beloved old favourites. Enjoy:-)
